About Us

At Zori Tex, we’re a climate tech start-up on a mission to drive circularity in the fashion and textile industry. We are pioneering AI-powered textile waste sorting, combining machine vision and deep learning to optimise the availability of textiles for closed-loop recycling. We have an established machine learning pipeline for textile and fibre detection and are currently refining our system ready for piloting and deployment.

This role is a unique opportunity for engineers who are passionate about AI, sustainability, and solving complex problems, with experience in deep tech integration. We are seeking individuals who are excited about working in an early stage startup environment, where resilience and problem solving are key and where challenges are seen as opportunities to learn. The role has significant potential for growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimise imaging hardware, including illumination systems, hyperspectral near-infrared (NIR) and RGB cameras.
  • Design and prototype cost-effective and scalable vision hardware system solutions.
  • Support integration of machine learning models with imaging hardware and Edge processing.
  • Work on automation aspects of the textile sorting system.
  • Conduct real world testing and refine hardware build and hardware/ software integration.
  • Explore paths to scalable and reliable factory-grade hardware.
  • Ensure robust communication between IoT-enabled sorting platforms and data processing systems.
  • Dataset extension including image acquisition, supporting training and re-training to optimise machine learning.
  • Collaborate with the technical and wider team to ensure seamless system integration and alignment with customer requirements.
  • Collaboration with external partners, suppliers and experts to validate and optimise performance and robustness and realise the vision.
  • Develop, maintain and implement strict health and safety procedures.
  • Manage and support development of technical interns and/ or growing team.
  • Ambition to build a fast scaling product and develop and drive strategy in your area.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in engineering or physics, with experience in imaging hardware and embedded systems.
  • At least 2-3 years of relevant, practical hands-on industry experience gained through professional employment.
  • Proficiency in Python and relevant hardware related programming languages (C/C++ desirable).
  • Experience designing and building prototypes for industrial or real world applications.
  • Familiarity with IoT and cloud connected devices is a plus.
  • Interest in circular economy, recycling, and sustainability.
  • Problem solving mindset with resilience and adaptability to thrive in a fast paced startup environment.
  • Commitment to the long term vision and ambition to build a fast scaling product, while developing and driving strategy in your area.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Master’s in a relevant field.
  • Experience with computer vision and machine learning models.

Why Join Us?

  • Work on a high impact problem in AI and sustainability.
  • Contribute to cutting edge research and development in machine vision and AI.
  • Opportunity to shape a real world game changing climate tech product from the ground up.
  • Equity option potential.
