Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking a Virtual School Education Advisor to support children and young people known to a social worker, across Birmingham and out-of-area settings. The role is permanent, Grade C, and pays £36,581 - £45,529 pro rata.

Working 36.5 hours per week during term-time (39 weeks) plus 10 days, you will advocate for education and coordinate planning and interventions to improve engagement and attainment.

Qualifications

• Acts as an education advocate for a specific cohort of children and young people known to a social worker, residing both in and out of city.
• Works in partnership with agencies in Birmingham and other LAs to prioritise and support education and welfare of children and young people known to a social worker.
• Supports education settings to identify and implement interventions, such as trauma-informed and attachment-aware practice, to improve engagement and attainment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate effective education planning for children and young people known to a social worker, ensuring smooth transitions and addressing gaps in learning.
• Oversee termly Personal Education Plan processes for children in care to ensure focused targets and use of Pupil Premium Plus.
• Contribute to implementation, monitoring and review of plans such as EHCPs with multi-agency partners to meet needs.
