Job summary

Birmingham City Council seeks a Virtual School Education Advisor to support children and young people known to a social worker, in city and out-of-area settings, ensuring appropriate education and welfare planning.

The role is permanent, Grade C, £36,581–£45,529 pro rata, working 36.5 hours per week, term-time only (39 weeks) plus 10 days. DBS check, right to work in the UK, and internal mobility considerations apply.

Responsibilities

• Act as an education advocate for a cohort of children known to a social worker, residing in and out of city.
• Work with agencies in Birmingham and other LAs to support education and welfare of children known to a social worker.
• Support education settings to identify interventions, including trauma-informed and attachment-aware practice.
• Coordinate effective education planning for children known to a social worker, ensuring smooth transitions and addressing gaps.
• Oversee and quality assure termly Personal Education Plan processes for children in care to ensure focused targets and use of Pupil Premium Plus.
• Contribute to implementation, monitoring and review of other plans such as EHCPs with multi-agency partners as needed.
