Job summary

Protalent is hiring a Virtual Finance Controller in West Sussex for a genuinely flexible, hybrid role. You’ll manage a portfolio of scaling clients, acting as their outsourced finance lead and collaborating with founders on strategic decisions.

The role uses cloud accounting tools (Xero, Dext, Fathom) and offers 30-35 hours per week with work-from-home, client site, or shared workspace options. Competitive salary depending on hours and experience.

Qualifications

• Experience as virtual FC/FD or outsourced finance lead for multiple clients.
• Strong knowledge of management reporting and financial statements.
• Comfort with cloud accounting platforms and advisory services.

Responsibilities

• Act as a virtual FC for a portfolio of scaling businesses.
• Prepare and review management accounts and financial reports.
• Oversee bookkeeping and VAT returns.
• Support clients with day-to-day finance queries and decision-making.
• Work across Xero, Dext and Fathom.
• Assist with year-end accounts and tax compliance as appropriate.
