Job summary

The Part-Time Finance People seeks an experienced Finance Controller to take on an Engagement Lead role, working with our Finance Professionals to deliver high-quality client engagements. You will train, mentor, and develop teams, provide regular feedback, and help recruit new finance professionals as the business grows.

This hybrid role involves supporting principals, maintaining service standards, and driving continuous improvement across the finance team while travelling to Farnham

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Financial Controller.
• Experience supporting SMEs.
• Experience managing, mentoring and developing finance teams.
• Confidence delivering constructive feedback and holding people accountable.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience interviewing and recruiting finance professionals.
• Strong working knowledge of Xero (Sage 50 and QuickBooks advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Support Principals with client engagements and help resolve client issues where required.
• Conduct regular engagement reviews with Principals and, where appropriate, clients.
• Train, coach and mentor Finance Professionals, Senior Bookkeepers and Financial Controllers.
• Deliver regular feedback and performance coaching to support professional development.
• Hold team members accountable for quality, service standards and delivery.
• Review work and provide technical guidance where required.
• Conduct interviews for prospective Finance Professionals, Senior Bookkeepers and Financial Controllers.
• Support the onboarding and development of new team members.
• Promote consistency, best practice and continuous improvement across the finance team.
• Support internal operational projects and business growth initiatives.

Finance Controller

Location

Hybrid - Primarily remote. Ideally based around High Wycombe, with travel to our Farnham office 2-3 times per month. A full UK driving license and access to a car are essential.

Hours

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Finance Controller as an Engagement Lead.

Rather than managing your own client portfolio, you'll work closely with our Finance Professionals to support client engagements, maintain exceptional service standards and ensure our Finance Professionals are delivering the highest quality support to clients.

This is a people-focused leadership role where you'll train, mentor and develop our Finance Professionals, Senior Bookkeepers and Financial Controllers. You'll provide regular feedback, help resolve client challenges, conduct engagement reviews and ensure team members are supported and held accountable to deliver excellent outcomes.

You'll also play an important role in recruiting and onboarding new finance professionals as YRH continues to grow.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Financial Controller who enjoys developing people, building strong relationships and maintaining high standards of client service.

You’ll have:

• Previous experience working as a Financial Controller.
• Strong experience supporting SMEs.
• Experience managing, mentoring and developing finance teams.
• Confidence delivering constructive feedback and holding people accountable.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience interviewing and recruiting finance professionals.
• Strong working knowledge of Xero (experience with Sage 50 and QuickBooks is advantageous).
• A proactive, organised approach with excellent attention to detail.
• A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle.
• The ability to travel to our Farnham office on occasion.
