Job description

Job Description

You will play a crucial part in elevating newsroom video and ensuring rigorous legal and editorial standards while delivering visually striking, broadcast-quality content. You will utilise your studio expertise and editorial judgment to produce truly engaging long-form news and feature content tailored for YouTube audiences. As a confident voice in video production, you will pitch exciting, original visual concepts daily in a fast-paced newsroom environment, constantly refining how we bring high-profile stories to life on screen. You should also be knowledgeable around social video and know how to make people stop scrolling and watch our content instead.

You will ensure all content is optimised to drive subscriber/follower growth and watch time on YouTube and other social video platforms, using performance metrics, competitor analysis, and platform developments to inform production decisions. This role involves directing and operating equipment behind the camera, managing multi-camera studio workflows, and presenting on-camera where required.

This is a hybrid role working 3 - 4 days per week from our Canary Wharf hub. The role will require weekend work and flexible hours during the week, this will be discussed at interview stage.

Qualifications
Who are we looking for:
  • An NCTJ or BJTC qualification alongside a proven track record in a breaking news environment is essential, as is a thorough practical understanding of UK media law, copyright, and editorial standards.
  • Demonstrated mastery of professional-level DSLRs/mirrorless camera setups, studio lighting, audio capture, and multi-cam workflows. Experience filming high-quality long-form studio shows and sit-down interviews is required.
  • Expert skills in Adobe Premiere Pro (or equivalent NLE software) for long-form video editing, color grading, and sound mixing. Experience presenting on-camera and recording professional voiceovers is essential.
  • Deep technical and strategic understanding video optimisation on YouTube and other social platforms, thumbnail best practices, titling, analytics, and content distribution to hit key performance metrics. Ability to adapt long-form studio segments into dynamic teasers or YouTube Shorts is a bonus.
  • Strong news sense, accuracy, and the confidence to make sound production decisions under tight deadlines and live-to-tape conditions.
