Job summary

Herne Bay High School invites applications for an additional Vice Principal to driveCulture and Behaviour across Years 7–11. This is a strategically important, whole-school leadership role reporting to the Principal and working with Governors and the Senior Leadership Team. A strong track record of improving behaviour and inclusion is essential.

The role requires outstanding leadership, collaboration, and the ability to translate vision into sustained improvement across a large school community.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in a secondary school.
• Proven track record of improving behaviour, culture, inclusion or pastoral outcomes.
• Ability to lead strategically while managing day-to-day school operations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to inspire staff and students.
• Strong numeracy and data-informed decision-making to drive improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and accountability for behaviour and culture across Years 7–11.
• Champion a positive whole-school culture underpinned by kindness, respect and dedication.
• Lead on behaviour, inclusion and pastoral provision, ensuring student safety and wellbeing.
• Develop pastoral teams and collaborate with senior leaders to promote belonging and achievement.
• Oversee rewards, behaviour, disciplinary systems and safeguarding duties as required.
• Contribute to school self-evaluation, improvement planning and staff development.
