Job summary

CITB is seeking a proactive Vetting Specialist to own the end-to-end vetting, safeguarding and safer recruitment processes. You will oversee right-to-work, DBS, PVG and other checks, ensuring compliant, auditable decision-making to protect learners and staff.

This permanent, full-time role offers a hybrid pattern (at least 2 days on site) in Peterborough with a target salary of £42,642 and 35 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experience in vetting, safer recruitment or a compliant pre‑employment screening environment.
• Knowledge of right‑to‑work, DBS, BPSS and PVG checks.
• Ability to interpret legislation and policy into clear operational rules.
• Experience maintaining auditable records such as SCR.
• Experience with sponsor licences and immigration-status tracking.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain end‑to‑end vetting framework, translating legislation into practical requirements.
• Determine correct vetting packages for roles and individuals, including identity, right to work, sponsorship, DBS, PVG and related checks.
• Provide specialist advice on complex cases and coordinate risk assessments with HR, Safeguarding and Legal.
• Maintain and reconcile vetting records and SCR; ensure inspection readiness.
• Manage sponsorship, expiry dates and renewals; provide management information on compliance and risks.
• Coordinate with external providers; ensure CITB remains accountable for final vetting decisions.
• Support training and continuous improvement for administrators and hiring managers.
