Job summary

World Class Defence Organisation is recruiting a Security Vetting Officer on a 12-month contract. Location options include Stevenage or Bolton, with a hybrid pattern of two days per week onsite and the remaining days remote.

The role requires 37 hours weekly, with defined hours across Mon-Thu and Fri variations for Week A/B, and it is Inside IR35 (Umbrella). The successful candidate will support with security clearances, manage vetting enquiries, liaise with UKSV, and drive Vetting Strategy

Responsibilities

• Support Recruitment in obtaining security clearances and checks for all new employees.
• Assist with management of confidential and complex vetting enquiries.
• Act as point of contact for vetting issues and problems.
• Liaise with UKSV and other external agencies as appropriate.
• Work with external IT platforms to obtain and update security clearances.
• Provide support to Security Services areas and lead departmental projects to meet deadlines.
• Support the Personnel Security Manager in Vetting Strategy implementation.

World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Security Vetting Officer subcontractor on an initial 12 month contract.

Rate: £26.85 per hour

Overtime Rate: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’

Location: Stevenage or Bolton (depending on your preference)

Hybrid / Remote working: The role will be a hybrid role of 2 days per week onsite and the rest working from home.

Contract: 37 Hours per week. Monday to Thursday 08:30-17:00, Friday 08:30 to 14:00 Week A, Friday 08:30 to 16:00 Week B

Duration: 12 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)

IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

Security Vetting Officer Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the dynamic and vibrant environment of security vetting. This is a crucial area of the business which supports the delivery of security cleared personnel. You will be part of a highly motivated and progressive team who are the first layer of security in ensuring any personnel risks are identified and managed.

• Support Recruitment in obtaining security clearances and checks for all new employees.
• Supporting with the management of confidential and complex vetting enquiries.
• Be point of contact for vetting issues/problems.
• Liaise with UKSV and other external agencies when appropriate.
• Work with external IT platform to obtain and update security clearances.
• Provide support to areas of Security Services.
• Lead on departmental projects for successful implementation to meet deadlines.
• In addition, you will be required to support the Personnel Security Manager in the successful implementation of the Vetting Strategy. Your role will be diverse and fast-paced as you support the department and business in achieving its objectives and reducing risk to the organisation.

• Experience of HMG BPSS and UKSV vetting processes

• Experienced on the use of electronic Vetting Databases and multi IT platforms
• 'Can do' positive attitude for success

Desirable:

• Experience and knowledge of MOD and defence industry
• Relevant vetting and Personnel Security experience or qualification
• Awareness and knowledge of recruitment and on boarding processes for defence industry
• Personnel Security awareness for the ongoing aftercare of security cleared staff
