Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Decommissioning is seeking a Vetting Advisor to manage end-to-end vetting cases in line with UK standards and internal policies. You will assess suitability, guide applicants and stakeholders, and ensure fair, timely processing across case management systems.

In this role you will mentor colleagues, contribute to process improvements, and maintain confidential records while delivering a high level of customer service in a security-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in vetting, compliance, HR or investigative roles.
• Understanding of national vetting standards and security clearance processes.
• Qualifications in security, law or public administration are desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assess and process end-to-end vetting applications in line with legislation and internal policies.
• Liaise with applicants, internal stakeholders and external agencies to verify information.
• Prepare clear, concise case notes to support progression or closure.
• Maintain confidential records across case management systems.
• Handle aftercare activities in line with UKSV policies.
• Provide high-level customer service and guidance on vetting matters to candidates, colleagues and stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships with security personnel and HR teams.
• Mentor and train new team members.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of vetting processes and procedures.

Do you strongly believe that security vetting safeguards our business, clients and employees? The vetting team has an opportunity for a detailed-focussed individual to join the team in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies.

Join AtkinsRéalis Decommissioning as a Vetting Advisor, where you will manage vetting cases end-to-end in line with organisational policies, national standards and legal requirements. You will assess suitability, provide expert guidance throughout the vetting process and ensure that all applications are processed fairly, consistently and in a timely manner, supporting AtkinsRéalis commitment to safeguarding and integrity.

Your role

• Assess and process end-to-end vetting applications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies.
• Liaise with applicants, internal stakeholders, and external agencies to gather and verify information.
• Prepare clear, concise, and well-reasoned case notes to support case progression or closure.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with data protection regulations, managed across various case management systems.
• Handle aftercare activities in line with UKSV policies.
• Provide a consistent and high level of customer service, offering advice and guidance on vetting matters to candidates, colleagues and stakeholders.
• Build strong, trusted relationships with key security personnel and HR teams
• Mentor and train new team members.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of vetting processes and procedures.

Security clearance
