Supreme Search Specialists is seeking an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon for a well-established practice in South Shields, Tyne and Wear. This part-time role is up to 31 hours per week with flexible patterns and no out-of-hours work.

The role includes sole-charge Saturdays (1 in 4 rota) and a supportive team in an RCVS-accredited practice with Silver ISFM accreditation and two theatres to maintain a broad clinical skillset.

Veterinary Surgeon – South Shields, Tyne and Wear

About the Role

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established practice in South Shields, Tyne and Wear.

This is a part-time position of up to 31 hours per week, with flexibility around working patterns. The role offers no out-of-hours (OOH), a 1 in 4 Saturday rota, protected administration time and regular breaks, supporting a sustainable approach to work-life balance.

The position is ideally suited to a Veterinary Surgeon with 2+ years' experience who is confident with routine surgery, client communication and sole-charge work on Saturdays.

Salary: up to £70,000 FTE, dependent on experience

About the Practice

The practice is a long-established small animal veterinary practice with 18 years of experience, supported by a friendly, experienced and close-knit team.

The practice is RCVS accredited and holds Silver ISFM accreditation, reflecting its commitment to high clinical and feline-friendly standards.

The purpose-built facility features two operating theatres and supports a varied small animal caseload, giving Veterinary Surgeons the opportunity to maintain a broad range of clinical skills.

Regular clinical meetings provide opportunities to discuss cases, protocols and new products, while full team meetings help ensure strong communication across the practice. A dedicated veterinary WhatsApp group also provides colleagues with access to support when needed.

Responsibilities

As a Veterinary Surgeon, responsibilities will include:

• Providing high-quality first-opinion veterinary care

The ideal candidate will:

• Have ideally 2+ years' experience in small animal practice

• Be confident with routine surgery

• Be comfortable working sole charge on Saturdays

• Have excellent client communication and relationship-building skills

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient welfare

• Be proactive about their own clinical development

Compensation & Benefits

The successful Veterinary Surgeon will receive:

• Salary up to £70,000 FTE, dependent on experience

• Up to 31 hours per week, with flexibility around working patterns

• 5.6 weeks' holiday, increasing to 6.6 weeks after 2 years' service, pro rata for part-time hours
