About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Sunderland, offering genuine flexibility, excellent clinical support and a strong focus on colleague wellbeing.

The role offers a salary of up to £80,000 FTE, dependent on experience, with flexible working patterns available, including shorter hours such as 9am–3pm, three days per week.

This is an excellent opportunity for a good all-round GP vet who enjoys both consulting and surgery and wants to develop their clinical skills within a progressive, forward-thinking practice.

About the Practice

The practice is a progressive small animal veterinary practice in Sunderland, committed to delivering high clinical standards while ensuring colleagues feel supported and valued.

The experienced team includes 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 12 RVNs, 4 SVNs and an established reception team across two local practices.

The practice benefits from a varied caseload and genuine clinical freedom, with colleagues encouraged to develop their own interests and deliver gold-standard patient care.

The veterinary team works closely with colleagues holding certificates in Surgery, Ultrasonography and Cardiology, creating excellent opportunities for knowledge sharing and clinical development.

The practice also holds ISFM and RAW Silver awards and a Dog Friendly Practice award, and has previously been recognised as a graduate practice of the year. They are also working towards the Zero Pain Certificate.

Regular fortnightly vet meetings provide opportunities to discuss cases, review protocols and share new clinical developments. Protected administration time and on-the-day appointment slots are also built into the diary to support a manageable working day.

The nursing team brings further expertise, including qualifications in Emergency and Critical Care, Infection Control, Feline Friendly Nursing and Dermatology, alongside postgraduate nursing experience.
