Job description

Permanent Vet at St George's Vets, Wolverhampton

Up to £65,000 (DOE)

Relocation support up to £5000, as well as visa assistance

St George's Vets, part of the inspiring Vet Care network, is recruiting! At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a GP Vet with either experience in, or a strong interest in developing, their orthopaedic and soft tissue surgical skills. We’re looking for a confident and experienced vet to join our team and take on a varied surgical caseload alongside our dedicated Orthopaedic and Soft Tissue Surgeon. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to further develop their surgical skills while working within a supportive and collaborative team.

The role will be split across our two sites, with two days per week based at our main hospital in Wolverhampton, where you will be involved in our varied surgical caseload, and two days per week consulting at our dedicated consulting branch. Our surgical caseload is varied and offers plenty of opportunity to develop your skills, ranging from routine procedures such as neutering and dental surgery through to more advanced cases, including TPLOs, BOAS surgery, TECA, larger mass removals and laparoscopic spays.

Excellent work-life balance

We offer flexible working patterns that flex work to fit in with you and your lifestyle. Whether you are looking to flex your rota hours to balance the school holidays, fix to navigate the school runs or just looking to strike that balance between home and work life. We can offer flexibility that actually works for you. A typical full-time role would require to you work 40 hours across 4 weekdays, with 1:5 Saturdays (08:30 – 16:00). There are no out of hours or on call required for any of our sites.

More about us

Our sites offer excellent connectivity across the country. For example, the Fallings Park practice is just 8 minutes from M54 Junction 1 and is easily accessible from Wolverhampton, Dudley, Stafford and Telford. Wolverhampton train station is very close to Fallings Park (5mins) and walkable from our main Hospital, with excellent links to major cities like Birmingham, London, Liverpool and Manchester. Birmingham airport is only a 40-minute drive away. We’re equipped with all the tools you’d expect from a modern practice, including operating theatres, Idexx labs, ultrasound, dental X-ray, a CT scanner, digital X-ray, digital microscope, endoscope, laparoscopic kit, and much more! Our greatest strength lies in our high-calibre team, made up of certificate holders and advanced practitioners, supported by skilled nursing staff and dedicated support teams.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:

  • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS

  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues

  • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
