Job description

White Cross Vets Wolstanton, part of inspiring vet care, is growing, and we’re looking for an additional Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team of 2.5 vets, 7 nurses and 3 client care coordinators. Based on the outskirts of Newcastle-under-Lyme, we’re a close-knit, experienced team with a loyal client base and a strong focus on high-quality patient care, clinical governance and continuous development.

This is a forward-thinking practice where new ideas are encouraged through regular clinical and team meetings. Whether you’re looking to develop your clinical or surgical skills, pursue a certificate or special interest, or simply enjoy a varied first-opinion caseload, we’ll support you to thrive.

We’re also passionate about wellbeing and work-life balance, with initiatives including wellbeing afternoons, wellbeing days, team recognition, mental health first aider support, funded confidential support, birthday leave and new pet ‘paternity’ leave. Outside of work, we’re a social team who enjoy everything from sausage roll runs and chocolate treasure hunts to Bake-Off competitions, quizzes, pumpkin carving and the occasional game of bingo.

As part of White Cross Vets, you’ll also benefit from the wider support, career development and progression opportunities available across the group. If you’re looking to join a supportive, ambitious and genuinely friendly practice, we’d love to hear from you.

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Practice Highlights
  • Wolstanton has excellent facilities, including four consult rooms, separate cat and dog wards
  • Operating theatre, digital X-ray with SignalPet AI support, dental X-ray, endoscopy, ultrasound, laser therapy and comprehensive in-house laboratory equipment, including Imagyst for rapid cytology analysis.
  • We hold the ISFM Silver Award for cat care and the IVC Evidensia Patient Safety Award, with the clinical team regularly conducting audits to continually improve standards.
How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

Key Responsibilities

  • This is a full-time role with flexibility around shifts
  • No OOH or weekend work currently required.
  • You’ll provide high-quality veterinary care, deliver an excellent client experience and contribute to the smooth running of the practice.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
