Job description

Find Your Future With Kernow Vets

Kernow Veterinary Group is looking for a small animal vet to join our team. This is a full-time role, 40 hours over a 4-day week, promoting a great work/life balance. We are also open to part-time applicants. Our current team consists of 22 small animal vets across five sites, along with a dedicated farm & equine team.

Our Talented Team

We seek someone to complement our supportive team, which includes certificate holders in Ophthalmology, Dermatology, & Behaviour, as well as recent graduates under the IVC graduate academy. We provide referral services in Behaviour, Ophthalmology, & Dermatology.

All sites are well-equipped, offering a full range of diagnostic and surgical services. We operate our own OOH for in-patients, supported by an RVN and nursing staff at our main site 24/7. We employ a night vet and collaborate with a neighboring IVC practice for emergency OOH night coverage. The role involves contributing to the OOH rota for in-patient care and weekends, currently 1:10 weekends.

Opportunities & Lifestyle

Within our supportive team, you will have clinical freedom to follow cases through. Many of our experienced vets have been with us for over 30 years, alongside newer colleagues.

If you're considering relocating, get in touch! We are a sociable team who enjoy all that Cornwall offers—riding, cycling, running, surfing, rowing, and coastal walks—all on our doorstep. Cornwall's excellent road, rail, and air links support a great work-life balance. We are part of the Vet GDP scheme, RVN training centers, and active in the Cornwall Veterinary Association, which includes a young vet network.

Why Our Employees Matter

We value our staff as the key to our success. We invest in our people, premises, and processes. Benefits include:

  • Work-life balance: 6.6 weeks annual leave, including bank holidays and extra for your birthday
  • Wellbeing: Private Medical Insurance, 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, family-friendly policies, colleague wellbeing initiatives
  • Development: £1250 CPD allowance, 40 hours paid CPD leave, certificate support, access to IVC Evidensia Academy, Vetlexicon, research funding, Care Fund, Infection Prevention, and Quality Improvement programs
  • Professional Memberships: BVA membership, VDS cover
  • Colleague Benefits: Company pension, Cycle to Work, Green Cars schemes, voluntary benefits, retail discounts, pet treatment discounts

We are committed to Diversity, Equality, Inclusion, and Belonging. As a Disability Confident Employer, we welcome candidates from all backgrounds and are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments during recruitment.
