Blenheim Veterinary Centre Ltd in Derbyshire is seeking a permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join our busy practice. The role combines consulting and surgical work with a varied caseload and opportunities for professional development.

We offer a 37.5-hour week across four days and alternate Saturdays, with no out-of-hours shifts required. Our team supports ongoing training and a collaborative clinical culture focused on patient and client care.

Permanent Vet at Blenheim Vets, Derbyshire

Up to £65,000 (DOE)

We're looking for someone to join us on a full-time, permanent basis. The role offers a busy but well-balanced combination of consulting and surgery. In addition to our first opinion caseload, we are proud to provide veterinary care for both Cats Protection Derbyshire Cat Centre (the second-largest Cats Protection shelter in the UK) and Derby and District Cats Protection branch. This gives us an additional set of interesting and varied cases, where referral is not always an option.

Ideally, we're looking for someone to cover a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week. This would involve 4 days per week with 1:3 Saturdays. There are no out of hours or on call required for this role. We could discuss alternative hours for the right person.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

About us

Our fantastic team is made up of six vets, including certificate holders in Medicine and Exotics, with one of our vets currently working towards their Ophthalmology certificate. We also benefit from having a visiting European Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon. Our vet team is highly experienced, with many years of combined experience under their belts. We're supported by our equally brilliant support staff of 6 RVNs, 2 SVNs, 1 VCA and 6 client care staff.

We work up almost all cases in-house, with excellent diagnostic facilities including dental and conventional X-ray, as well as a high-spec ultrasound with multiple frequency probes. We have separate cat, dog and isolation wards, along with the facilities to hospitalise exotic patients where required. We aim to keep our own inpatients wherever possible, with night visits reimbursed, while Vets Now provides our out-of-hours cover. Our in-house laboratory is comprehensive, with access to IDEXX for additional testing when needed. We’re also proud to be an ISFM Silver and RWAF Silver+ practice, reflecting our commitment to high standards of patient care and to the wellbeing of the species we treat.
