Job description

Paws Colchester Veterinary Centre, Colchester, Colchester, East of England
Salary up to £75,000 DOE plus a relocation allowance up to £5,000

Are you a small animal vet looking for a new opportunity that fits around your life, with a genuinely supportive and friendly team? At Paws Colchester Vets, we’re looking for a part-time veterinary surgeon to join our close-knit, three-vet practice, where flexibility, team spirit, and excellent clinical care are at the heart of everything we do.

About Us

Paws Colchester is an independent, well-established practice situated on the edge of Colchester – a vibrant and historic town with great local amenities, easy access to the countryside, and just a short drive from the coast, including beautiful Mersea Island. With strong rail links to both London and Norwich, we offer the best of both worlds: a relaxed coastal-lifestyle setting with easy access to the city.

We’re proud to be a genuinely close and collaborative team. Our vets work alongside five exceptional and highly skilled Registered Veterinary Nurses, each of whom plays a crucial role in both clinical support and running their own nurse-led clinics. In addition, we have a welcoming and efficient front-of-house team made up of three experienced receptionists who help ensure every client receives the best possible service from start to finish.

The Role
  • Position: Part-Time Small Animal Vet
  • Working Hours: Flexible – we’re happy to work with you to find a schedule that suits your needs
  • Weekends: Only 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (8:30am–12:30pm)
  • Out of Hours: None – your evenings and weekends are your own
We’re able to tailor the role to match your strengths and interests. We see a varied and interesting caseload and the role would suit a vet with some experience, but we’re also keen to develop. Mentorship and ongoing support are part of our culture, and we’re here to help you thrive.
What Makes Us Different
  • We offer genuine flexibility to support your work-life balance
  • A collaborative and welcoming environment, where everyone’s voice matters
  • Our clinical standards are high, and we pride ourselves on quality, not quantity
  • One of our vets holds a Certificate in Ophthalmology, and we’re passionate about supporting further qualifications and CPD
  • You’ll have time to build relationships with clients and provide gold-standard care
  • We have modern equipment and all the tools you need, but most importantly, we have a team that’s invested in each other’s success
We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from -
