Job summary

CVS Group seeks a Veterinary Surgeon for MiNight East Midlands, covering out-of-hours emergencies in Castle Donington. You will work a part-time, night-shift rota with annualised hours, including on-site accommodation if needed.

Ideal candidates are confident clinicians who can lead on varied cases and mentor colleagues, delivering exceptional care to companion animals while collaborating with a supportive team.

Qualifications

• BVSc/MVet degree and RCVS registration.
• Experience in small animal emergency care is advantageous.
• Willingness to work night shifts and participate in OOH rota.

Responsibilities

• Lead on surgical and medical cases and perform diagnostics.
• Support and mentor team members.
• Deliver high standards of patient care and client communication.

Job description

Role: Veterinary Surgeon – OOH

Location: Castle Donington, East Midlands (5mins for East Midlands Airport!)

Contract: Annualised hours

Rota: Part-time hours (approx. 22.75) across the teams 1 week on / 3–4 weeks off – happy to discuss flexible options

Shift hours: 7pm to 8 am with a 1 hour break. We are looking for 7 shifts with 3-4 weeks off after worked week - onsite accommodation is available during time worked if needed

Practice Type: Veterinary Hospital - multidisciplinary referral centre & OOH emergency care

Salary: Up to £64k FTE depending on experience

Life at MiNightVet -East Midlands

MiNightVet East Midlands is a small animal out-of-hours veterinary emergency service, welcoming dogs, cats and small mammals. We are based in Castle Donington, Derby and provide emergency overnight and weekend care to clients. Our service is also available to clients from other practices who have arranged this service.

The MiNightVet team provide a dedicated emergency service with full-time night staff who will be alert and effective even at unsociable hours. The qualified vets and nurses have a special interest, experience and training in all aspects of urgent critical care.

We are located in a wonderful part of the World with East Midlands airport just 5 minutes away, and Birmingham International Airport about an hour. We have plenty of exciting cities on our doorstep: Nottingham, Derby and Leicester, plus access to the beautiful countryside and trails of the Peak District.
