Job Description

A fantastic opportunity is available for a Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys a varied workload and in-house referrals. The practice is expanding with plans for additional consult rooms, a dental and imaging suite, and more, working towards becoming a Fear Free practice. Situated near scenic outdoor areas, the location also offers convenient transport links to a major city.

The practice is led by an experienced vet and practice owner, supported by a team of vets, nurses, veterinary care assistants, and a dedicated reception staff. The team handles a diverse range of cases, many of which are managed in-house. The practice is well-equipped with doppler ultrasound, operating loupes, dental x-ray, an electrosurgery unit, and a growing orthopaedic kit. The owner is also a GDP advisor with extensive experience mentoring new graduates, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

The role is available as full-time, though flexible hours may be considered for the right candidate. The rota includes a 1 in 3 Saturday shift, with no Sunday or out-of-hours work after 7pm. Sick pet consultations are scheduled for 20 minutes, with 30 minutes for new graduates, and over an hour of admin and catch-up time is built into each day.

The team promotes a family-friendly atmosphere with regular social events, such as group meals, local hikes, and other activities outside of work. A new graduate can expect a starting salary of £35k, with potential earnings up to £65k for certificate holders, depending on experience. Additional benefits include extra holiday for birthdays, enhanced employee vet discounts, and a supportive work environment.
