Job description

Are you an enthusiastic advocate for animals, driven by the desire to contribute to our overarching goal of ensuring every pet has access to affordable treatment? We're currently seeking a Receptionist to become an integral part of our team at our brand new clinic in Liverpool.

Founding Vision

Owen Monie, our founding Vet, established the Animal Trust because he passionately believes that no animal should suffer due to their owner’s financial hardship. There are no consultation fees charged at any of our vet practices, and there are no eligibility criteria, as we want to encourage people to bring their pets to us. Owners will only pay for treatment at realistic, transparent prices published on our website.

Why You Matter

Our Receptionists are a vital link between the clinical and non-clinical needs of our surgery’s operation. Supported by the onsite management team, you will help shape our primary aim of providing accessible services for sick pets.

Your main duties will include assisting clients with appointments, diary management, and finance matters such as debt and insurance. Your supportive collaboration with the clinical team is essential to ensure they have everything needed to provide compassionate care to those relying on our services.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Welcoming clients and their pets for appointments, maintaining a compassionate and professional attitude at all times
  • Answering telephone calls and queries from clients
  • Handling medication prepared by the veterinary surgeon and handing it to clients
  • Working within a team (and at times alone) to ensure the reception, waiting area, and consultation rooms are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness
  • Dealing with stressed or upset clients and connecting them to the appropriate teams where required
  • Taking payments, registering new clients, and addressing client concerns
  • Organising and restocking the practice as needed
  • Complying with all health and safety procedures
  • Ensuring data protection legislation is followed to maintain client and patient confidentiality
Are You Our Ideal Candidate?

If you understand the pressures faced by medical teams, and possess empathy, excellent organisational skills, and effective communication, you could be a great fit for our team.

Experience in medical or veterinary reception is desirable but not essential. We value passion, dedication, and commitment to our cause. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with clients in stressful situations. As many clients face emotional moments when their pets are unwell or need to be euthanized, empathy and understanding are especially important. We may ask you during the interview to share relevant experiences.

Job Particulars
  • Salary: £12.21 per hour
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Rota: 3 x 10-hour days
  • 1 in 4 Saturdays with TOIL the following week
  • Working hours between 8:00 and 19:00
  • 5.6 weeks of annual leave, including bank holidays
