Job summary

CVS Veterinary Group's Woolpack Veterinary Centre in Buntingford, Hertfordshire is seeking a Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. This permanent, part-time role (16.67 hours/week) offers a welcoming environment where pets come first.

You will manage calls, schedule appointments, greet clients, process payments, and support the in-house system while providing empathetic, professional care to clients and their pets.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a receptionist or in a demanding client-facing role.
• Ability to handle emotional situations with kindness and professionalism.
• Excellent communication and empathy with clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage communication: handle incoming calls and schedule appointments efficiently
• Inquiries resolution: respond to queries via phone, email, and in person
• Client reception: greet and register new clients, ensuring a warm welcome
• Financial transactions: process payments accurately and efficiently
• Emotional support: provide empathy while maintaining professionalism
• System utilisation: organise patients using the in-house system
• Inter-practice communication: liaise with veterinary practices to address patient needs
• Debt and refund management: make necessary phone calls regarding debts and refunds
• Client care: ensure every client feels welcomed and valued

Role Details:

Location: Buntingford Bypass, Buntingford, Hertfordshire, SG9 9FB

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 16.67 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Mondays 08.00 - 16.30, Fridays 11.00 - 19.30 and a 1:3 share in the Saturday 09.00 - 17.00 rota

Who We're Looking For:

• Previous experience as a Receptionist or in a demanding, client-focused role is a must; experience in a veterinary setting is a bonus!
• Resilience and the ability to handle emotional situations with kindness and professionalism
• Strong communication skills paired with genuine empathy
• Outstanding customer service skills and experience with the public
• Positive attitude and superior teamwork abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems
