Job summary

Medivet Alfreton is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Nurse to join our full-time team. You will work within a large, supportive practice with 15 vets, 15 nurses and 5 receptionists, delivering high‑quality patient care and client service.

You will participate in nurse-led clinics, assist with surgeries, and contribute to ongoing CPD and professional development in a thriving clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering high-quality patient and client care.
• Ability to work effectively within a larger veterinary team.
• Experience supporting nurse consults and promoting clinic efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional care to clients and patients.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures, including pre/post care.
• Conduct nurse-led appointments and schedule activities.
• Monitor patients and manage admissions/discharges as directed.
• Dispense and check medications accurately.
• Maintain regulatory, practice and operational standards.
• Lead team briefings to coordinate practice operations.

Job description

At Medivet Alfreton you'll be part of a large, supportive team of 15 vets, an amazing head nurse, 15 nurses, and 5 receptionists, all working together to provide the best care possible.

Many of our vets hold or are working towards certificates in dermatology, cardiology, dentistry, surgery, internal medicine, imaging, emergency & critical care, and ophthalmology. The practice is well-equipped with seven consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards, three sterile theatres, dedicated diagnostic suites, dental facilities, digital x-ray, two staff rooms, and more. Our hospital is committed to maintaining high standards and providing excellent care to both clients and patients.

We are offering a permanent full time contract including 1 in 8 full weekends. You will also be required to work Bank Holidays and to join our on-call rota.

Role Accountabilities:

In this role you will:

• Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.

• Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.

• Carry out nurse led appointments and schedule 3 activities.

• Deliver patient monitoring and care.

• Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.

• Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.

• Dispense and check medication.

• Deliver professional excellence, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.

• Hold briefings to engage and co-ordinate your team to support the most effective running of the practice.

Your Skills and Experience:

• RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.

• Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.

• Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.

• Experience of supporting Nurse consults, with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.

• Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
