Job summary

Medivet Alfreton is a 24-hour veterinary hospital recruiting for a veterinary surgeon to join a large, supportive team of 14 vets, 18 RVNs, 3 VCA's and 5 receptionists. The role includes a 40-hour week with 1 in 6 weekends and bank holidays, plus on-call night duties. Opportunities for part-time work are welcome.

The practice features six consulting rooms, multiple wards, theatres, diagnostic suites and digital x-ray. Salary range listed; benefits and sponsorship support available.

Qualifications

• RCVS registration as a veterinary surgeon.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional clinical care during consultations and procedures.
• Provide clear updates to clients about patients.

• Prepare tailored treatment plans with cost estimates.
• Mentor and develop team members to improve clinic performance.
• Arrange transfers for out-of-hours or enhanced care needs.
• Share best clinical practices across Medivet practices.

Job description

£42,500 - £68,800 per year

At Medivet Alfreton, you’ll be part of a large, supportive team of 14 vets, 18 RVN's, 3 VCA's and 5 receptionists, all working together to provide the best care possible. We are a 24 hour hospital with a dedicated night team.

Many of our vets hold or are working towards certificates in cardiology, surgery, internal medicine, dentistry, imaging and ophthalmology. The practice is well-equipped with six consulting rooms, separate dog and cat wards, three sterile theatres, dedicated diagnostic suites, dental facilities, digital x-ray, two staff rooms, and more. Our hospital is committed to maintaining high standards and providing excellent care to both clients and patients.

This is a full-time opportunity, 40 hours per week including 1 in 6 weekends and Bank Holidays. As we are a 24 hour hospital you will also be required to join our on call rota to support our dedicated night team. There would be the opportunity to work 2 days a week as a ward vet managing inpatients. • Deliver exceptional clinical care to your patients during consultations and procedures.
• Provide exceptional care to your clients, giving clear updates on patients.
• Deliver professional excellence, observing the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance.
• Prepare tailored, accurate treatment and care plans for each patient with clear cost estimates.
• Engage, mentor and develop your team, enhancing their skills and utilising these in the most effective way.
• Complete clinical handover and arrange transfer of any patient needing out of hours or enhanced care.
• Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice within and across practices and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience:

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
• Experienced in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients.
• Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
• Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
• Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture.
• Experience of supporting nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures, with an understanding of how this contributes to clinic performance and efficiency.
• Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
