Job summary

Pets at Home Limited in Wigan is seeking a part-time Care Assistant to provide hands on care for animal patients. You will support nurses and vets, handle client interactions, and help maintain a clean, infection-free environment.

Training will be provided and a contributory pension, staff discounts, and other benefits are offered. Shifts run between 8am and 8pm, including one Saturday in four, with a 20% staff discount across Pets at Home and the Groom Room.

• Providing hands on care and support for patients
• Supporting with caring, compassionate patient handling and restraint
• Assisting and supporting the nurses and vets and wider practice team
• Ensuring a hygienic environment through infection control measures and regular cleaning protocols
• Maintaining theatres and prep areas through surgical kit cleaning, sterilisation and preparing equipment and surgical packs
• Assisting reception by telephone answering and face to face client interactions Caring, compassionate and genuinely passionate about animals

• Able to remain calm under pressure and work efficiently in a fast paced environment
• Confident in verbal and written communication and able to deal with clients in a professional and empathetic manner

• Part time hours over different shifts in between the hours of 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday
• 1 in 4 Saturdays 9am until 3pm
