Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Veterinary Care Assistant to join our Telford Madeley Vets for Pets practice.

About Us:

Our practice has an expanding, loyal client base with a mixed caseload, and we pride ourselves on exceptional customer service and patient care. The practice is located on a small retail park, with plenty of free parking, and nearby outlets like Subway, KFC, Aldi, and Lidl to cater for lunchtime emergencies.

Our practice is bright, spacious, air-conditioned, and purpose-built to industry-leading standards, equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, and in-house laboratory facilities. We are a PSS and silver ISFM cat-friendly accredited practice.

About the Role:

This is a part-time role, working 32 hours per week across 5 days, plus 1 in 4 Saturday mornings from 9 am to 12 pm. We are seeking a passionate Veterinary Care Assistant who is flexible and willing to support both our clinical team and client care advisors as needed. Previous VCA experience is essential; professional qualifications are not required.

Please note that while we value team development, there is currently no progression route into a Student Veterinary Nurse position. This role is ideal for someone passionate about being a Veterinary Care Assistant and eager to grow within this capacity.

If you share our passion for delivering outstanding pet healthcare and exceptional customer service, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Proactively collaborate with the clinical and non-clinical team to deliver timely and effective patient and client care.
  2. Manage appointment bookings professionally and efficiently using the practice database system.
  3. Maintain basic product knowledge and advise clients appropriately.
  4. Support the team in preparing patient paperwork.
  5. Comply with Health & Safety regulations and policies within the practice.
  6. Ensure reception and other areas are kept clean and presentable at all times.
Key Attributes:
  1. Team player who is eager to learn, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.
  2. Experienced in patient handling.
  3. Experience with in-house laboratory equipment.
  4. Competent in patient care, housekeeping, and infection control.
Benefits:

We offer benefits such as 20% discounts at the Vet Group, Pets at Home, and the Groom Room; access to discounts and cashback offers; in-house career development; pension; and holiday allowance. The salary for this role is at the national minimum wage, initially paid at £12.21 per hour.

Location:

TF7 5FL

Pets see people. They aren’t biased and don’t discriminate. We are inspired by pets and value diversity in all its forms. We aim to reflect the communities we serve, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage everyone to be themselves; even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly match, if you believe you can contribute through your values and behaviors, we want to hear from you.
