Job summary

Vets for Pets Luton on Hitchin Road is seeking a Veterinary Care Assistant to join our friendly nursing team on a part-time basis. The role involves assisting the clinical team with feeding, handling and walking pets, plus cleaning, stocking and general reception tasks.

Shifts are 11am-4pm one week and 2pm-7pm the next, with 1 in 3 Saturdays 9am-4pm; Sundays and out-of-hours are not required. Experience is beneficial but training will be provided, including a Veterinary Care Support

Qualifications

• Previous experience in veterinary care is beneficial.
• Willingness to learn and progress in the veterinary field.

• Assist clinical team with feeding, handling and walking patients.
• Help with cleaning, stocking and general reception/administration tasks.

Veterinary Care Assistant – Part Time

Luton – Hitchin Road

We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident Veterinary Care Assistant to join our fabulous nursing team!

The position is part-time and the hours will be on a rota basis. The shifts will be 11am-4pm one week and 2pm-7pm the next, and 1 in 3 Saturdays 9am-4pm. There are no Sundays or out of hours work. You would be joining a team of 1 Head Nurse, 1 Deputy Head Nurse, 3 RVNs, 2 Student Nurses and 1 VCA, as well as 5 Vets, a Practice Manager and 4 Receptionists.

The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast paced environment whilst being cheerful, down‑to‑earth and hardworking and will have a genuine interest in animal welfare. We expect a high level of care so previous experience would be beneficial, but training will be given. Your day will involve helping the clinical team with all aspects of caring for the patients, such as feeding, handling and walking. You will also assist with cleaning and stocking items, as well as general reception and administration tasks. Having a full driving license and vehicle would be advantageous.

We are looking for someone who wants to progress in their career within the veterinary industry. We will provide training for the Veterinary Care Support qualification through the College of Animal Welfare, and for the right applicant further study may be available to become a Student Veterinary Nurse.
