Job summary

Hoare Lea in London is seeking a Senior, Principal or Associate Vertical Transportation Services Engineer to join our London-based VT team. The role focuses on site-based activities, including asset management, condition surveys, progress inspections, witness testing and commissioning, with potential for design, project management and leadership depending on level.

You will work client-facing with contractors, architects and building managers on mixed-use, commercial and education projects

Qualifications

• Industry qualification in lift engineering (NVQ Level 3 as a baseline).
• NVQ Level 4 desirable for Principal/Associate level.
• Practical knowledge of lifts, escalators and moving walks.
• Strong understanding of vertical transportation codes and standards.
• Good IT skills and ability to produce clear technical documentation.
• Ability to manage workload, priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Carry out site condition surveys and inspections of lifts, escalators and moving walks.
• Monitor construction progress, installation quality and compliance.
• Review drawings, specifications, submissions and programmes.
• Attend client, contractor and design team meetings.
• Witness testing, commissioning and validation activities.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications and schedules.
• Provide expert guidance on vertical transportation systems.
• Lead smaller projects and support larger schemes including high-value projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the team.
• At Principal/Associate level, lead technical delivery and manage client relationships.
