Job summary

Cumberland Council is seeking a skilled Vehicle Workshop Mechanic to join a busy workshop in Carlisle, supporting a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment.

The role is a permanent, full-time position (37 hours per week) with a salary of £39,481 to £40,444 per annum. Applicants should be NVQ Level 3 qualified or equivalent and have strong diagnostic skills and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Qualified vehicle technician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with fleet or heavy vehicle experience.
• Experience in routine servicing, diagnostics and repairs.
• Commitment to health and safety and high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, inspections, repairs and maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Undertake diagnostic fault finding, accident repairs and vehicle modifications.
• Respond to operational incidents, providing emergency repair support where required.
• Support vehicle changeovers and ensure fleet availability.
• Maintain accurate records and complete all required documentation.
• Ensure all work meets Council, legal and manufacturer standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe and compliant workshop environment.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, supporting best practice and service delivery.

Vehicle Workshop Mechanic x 3

Salary: £39,481 to £40,444 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Boustead Grassing, Carlisle

Contract: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, inspections, repairs and maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment

You will be a qualified vehicle technician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with experience in fleet or heavy vehicle maintenance. You will have strong diagnostic skills, a proactive approach, and a commitment to health and safety and high-quality workmanship.
