Job summary

G&P Quality Management is seeking an experienced Vehicle Workshop Technician to join our busy engineering team supporting prototype development, maintenance and repair of development vehicles.

You will diagnose faults, perform electrical and mechanical repairs, implement software updates, and work with hybrid/electric powertrain tech in a fast-paced automotive setting, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in mechanical or motor vehicle engineering with relevant experience.
• Strong diagnostic, electrical fault finding and mechanical repair skills.
• Knowledge of modern vehicle technologies including hybrids and EVs.
• Experience in powertrain or prototype vehicle environments is desirable.
• Familiarity with automotive diagnostic software and workshop equipment.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
• Full UK driving licence and basic MS Office skills.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Vehicle Workshop Technician to join a busy engineering team supporting the development, maintenance, and repair of prototype and development vehicles.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technician with strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out vehicle diagnostics, fault finding, and electrical repairs.
• Support mechanical powertrain repairs, modifications, and software updates.
• Prepare and maintain prototype and development vehicles.
• Use automotive software interfaces and diagnostic equipment.
• Work with instrumentation and measurement equipment as required.
• Maintain high workshop standards by applying 5S and Lean principles.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety and environmental requirements, including Risk Assessments, HAVS, and COSHH.
• Work collaboratively with engineers and the wider workshop team to deliver project objectives.

What We're Looking For

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Motor Vehicle Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience.
• Strong experience in vehicle diagnostics, electrical fault finding, and mechanical repairs.
• Knowledge of modern vehicle technologies, including hybrid and electric vehicles.
• Experience working within a powertrain or prototype vehicle environment is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with automotive diagnostic software and workshop equipment.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Competent using Microsoft Office and basic computer systems.
