Hawk Hiring is helping a respected independent garage in Stoke-on-Trent recruit a practical Vehicle Technician to join a close-knit workshop team.

The role offers a salary of £35,000–£45,000 basic per annum (DOE) plus an efficiency bonus, with a Monday–Friday schedule and Saturday rota. Active MOT status is advantageous but not essential, and a pension, on-site parking, and staff discounts are provided.

Qualifications

• Time-served mechanic with solid confidence in heavy mechanical repairs and fault isolation.
• Experience using multi-brand diagnostic scanners to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.

Responsibilities

• Tackle deep mechanical jobs including timing belts/chains, clutch kits, gearboxes, and engine repairs.
• Use multi-brand diagnostic scanners to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
• Conduct routine servicing, safety inspections, brake/suspension overhauls, and pre-MOT checks.
• Provide clear repair notes on job cards and keep service desk staff updated on timelines.
• Maintain clean work bays and follow workshop health and safety protocols.
