Job summary

The Garage Daventry, Daventry, is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician / Mechanic and MOT Tester to join a friendly independent garage. You will carry out MOT tests and carry out diagnostics and repairs across a wide range of vehicles.

You will work to high standards, with own tools and a professional approach, and you will be part of a small, supportive team in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• Current MOT Tester qualification.
• Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in motor trade.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to perform MOT testing alongside general technician duties.
• Ability to work on a range of vehicle makes/models.
• Own tools required to perform repairs.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Professional approach and good attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carry out MOT tests in line with DVSA standards.
• Perform routine servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical faults.
• Identify faulty components and carry out repairs/replacements.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and advise on additional work.
• Complete substantial repairs, including engine-related work when needed.
• Maintain accurate MOT/test and service records.
• Work effectively as part of a small, supportive team.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment and comply with health and safety.

Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester

Location: Daventry, NN11 4HB

Pay: From £16.30 per hour

About The Garage Daventry

Our client, The Garage Daventry, is a friendly, independent garage providing professional vehicle maintenance and repair services to customers across Daventry and the surrounding area.

They work on all makes and models of vehicles, including electric and hybrid vehicles, and undertake a wide variety of work ranging from routine servicing and diagnostics through to major repairs and engine replacements.

The Role

As a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic & MOT Tester, you will be responsible for carrying out MOT tests alongside diagnosing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out MOT tests in accordance with DVSA standards and requirements
• Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and vehicle repairs
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults
• Identifying faulty components and carrying out the necessary repairs or replacements
• Conducting vehicle inspections and advising on any additional work required
• Completing more substantial repairs, including engine-related work where required
• Maintaining accurate records of MOT tests, servicing, maintenance and repairs
• Working effectively as part of a small and supportive team
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
• Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements

About You

To be considered for this position, you should have:

• A current MOT Tester qualification
• A Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent
• A minimum of 5 years' experience within the motor trade
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• The ability to carry out MOT testing alongside general vehicle technician duties
• The ability to work confidently on a range of vehicle makes and models
• Your own tools required to carry out vehicle repairs
• A full UK driving licence
• A professional approach and good attention to detail
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• A First Aid at Work qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
