Job summary

The Garage Daventry is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join their small, friendly team in Daventry. You will carry out MOT tests and vehicle servicing, diagnostics and repairs across a range of vehicles, including electric and hybrid models.

Applicants should have a current MOT Tester qualification, a Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, and at least 5 years' experience; own tools and a full UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• A current MOT Tester qualification.
• Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in the motor trade.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to carry out MOT testing alongside general vehicle technician duties.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out MOT tests in accordance with DVSA standards.
• Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and vehicle repairs.
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults.
• Identifying faulty components and carrying out the necessary repairs or replacements.
• Conducting vehicle inspections and advising on any additional work required.
• Completing more substantial repairs, including engine-related work where required.
• Maintaining accurate records of MOT tests, servicing, maintenance and repairs.

Our client, The Garage Daventry, is a friendly, independent garage providing professional vehicle maintenance and repair services to customers across Daventry and the surrounding area.

They work on all makes and models of vehicles, including electric and hybrid vehicles, and undertake a wide variety of work ranging from routine servicing and diagnostics through to major repairs and engine replacements.

The Garage Daventry is now looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join their small, friendly team. They are looking for someone who can confidently carry out both vehicle technician work and MOT testing as part of their day-to-day role.

The Role

As a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic & MOT Tester, you will be responsible for carrying out MOT tests alongside diagnosing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out MOT tests in accordance with DVSA standards and requirements


• Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and vehicle repairs


• Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults


• Identifying faulty components and carrying out the necessary repairs or replacements


• Conducting vehicle inspections and advising on any additional work required


• Completing more substantial repairs, including engine-related work where required


• Maintaining accurate records of MOT tests, servicing, maintenance and repairs


• Working effectively as part of a small and supportive team


• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment


• Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements

About You

To be considered for this position, you should have:

• A current MOT Tester qualification


• A Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent


• A minimum of 5 years' experience within the motor trade


• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills


• The ability to carry out MOT testing alongside general vehicle technician duties


• The ability to work confidently on a range of vehicle makes and models


• Your own tools required to carry out vehicle repairs


• A full UK driving licence


• A professional approach and good attention to detail


• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team

A First Aid at Work qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
