The Garage in Daventry is seeking a skilled Technician/Mechanic & MOT Tester to join a friendly independent garage. You will carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards and perform routine servicing, maintenance and repairs.

The role requires a current MOT Tester qualification, Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, and at least 5 years in the motor trade, plus own tools and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Current MOT Tester qualification is required.
• Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in the motor trade.
• Own tools to carry out vehicle repairs.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out MOT tests in accordance with DVSA standards and requirements.
• Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and vehicle repairs.
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults.
• Identifying faulty components and carrying out necessary repairs.
• Conducting vehicle inspections and advising on additional work.
• Completing substantial repairs, including engine-related work when required.
• Maintaining accurate records of MOT tests, servicing, maintenance and repairs.

Job description

Technician / Mechanic & MOT Tester, you will be responsible for carrying out MOT tests alongside diagnosing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles to a high standard. Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out MOT tests in accordance with DVSA standards and requirements
• Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and vehicle repairs
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults
• Identifying faulty components and carrying out the necessary repairs or replacements
• Conducting vehicle inspections and advising on any additional work required
• Completing more substantial repairs, including engine-related work where required
• Maintaining accurate records of MOT tests, servicing, maintenance and repairs
• Working effectively as part of a small and supportive team
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
• Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements

About You

To be considered for this position, you should have:

• A current MOT Tester qualification
• A Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent
• A minimum of 5 years' experience within the motor trade
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• The ability to carry out MOT testing alongside general vehicle technician duties
• The ability to work confidently on a range of vehicle makes and models
• Your own tools required to carry out vehicle repairs
• A full UK driving licence
• A professional approach and good attention to detail
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• A First Aid at Work qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
