Job summary

Gates of Stevenage is hiring a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic on a full-time basis, offering 40 hours per week with early Friday finish and optional overtime. A competitive salary of £36,000–£45,000 plus an uncapped bonus scheme is provided, along with a £2,000 joining bonus.

Responsibilities include inspections, repairs, health checks and ensuring work meets franchise standards. Requirements include an NVQ level qualification and a valid UK driving licence; MOT card is a plus.

• MOT Card preferable but not essential.
• A full UK driving licence is essential.

We are currently seeking an Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join the team at Gates of Stevenage.

£2,000 Joining Bonus*

This is a full-time permanent role, where you will be working 40 hours a week. We offer a competitive basic salary of £36,000 - £45000, (depending on your experience and productivity level), plus a generous, uncapped bonus scheme with opportunities for overtime for those who wish to work additional hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out inspections, repairs and services to the highest of standards within scheduled times, meeting company and franchise standards.

• Making sure all necessary Vehicle Health Checks are completed accurately.

• Take responsibility for ensuring all jobs are completed to a good standard.

• Replace components, parts, lubricants and consumables and record usage.

• Adhere to strict Health and safety guidelines at all times.

Working Hours: 40 hrs per week, Monday - Friday with Saturday's tri-weekly

Salary: £36,000 - £45,000, with an uncapped bonus scheme

*Starting bonus of £2,000 (gross) is applicable to new starting Vehicle Service Technicians at Gates from the 1st October 2023 only. The Vehicle Service Technician should not currently be employed by a Ford dealer. Once a job offer has been made and accepted, and they start work with us, an introductory commission of £1,000 will be paid to them upon completion of one months’ service, with a further £1,000 payment on successful completion of their probationary period. Starting bonus payments for rejoining Motor Vehicle Technicians will be at the discretion of a Managing Director.
