Holt Recruitment Group in Chelmsford is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician (Mechanic) to join a busy dealership workshop. You will service, maintain and repair vehicles to manufacturer standards while delivering strong customer service.

OTE up to £60,000 with uncapped earnings, welcome bonus up to £2,500, 33 days holiday, pension, and ongoing training. A full UK driving licence is required; MOT licence advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence required; MOT testing licence advantageous but not essential.
• Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs to manufacturer specs.
• Inspect components to identify wear and necessary repairs.
• Diagnose faults and resolve mechanical/technical issues efficiently.
• Ensure work is safe, accurate and high quality.
• Provide clear information to customers and deliver great service.
• Collaborate with service reception and workshop controllers to stay efficient.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Vehicle Technician, you’ll play an important role in maintaining vehicle safety, reliability and performance while delivering high standards of workmanship and customer service. Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs in line with manufacturer specifications and guidelines.
• Inspecting vehicle components to identify wear, damage and any necessary repairs or replacements.
• Diagnosing faults and resolving mechanical and technical issues efficiently.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and to a high standard.
• Providing technical advice and clear information to customers when required.
• Delivering excellent customer service to encourage customer satisfaction, loyalty and repeat business.
• Working closely with the service reception team and workshop controllers to maintain an efficient workflow.
• Supporting colleagues within the workshop, sharing technical knowledge and contributing to a positive team environment.
• Meeting workshop efficiency targets while maintaining quality and attention to detail.

About You

We're keen to hear from experienced automotive professionals who take pride in their work and are committed to delivering excellent results. Ideally, you’ll have:

• An NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an equivalent qualification.
• A sound understanding of vehicle safety standards and repair procedures.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work efficiently while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
• A positive, team-focused attitude and good communication skills.
• A full, valid UK driving licence.
• A current MOT testing licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
