Job summary

Hawk Hiring LTD in Bridgend is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic to join our renowned workshop team. The role offers a base salary of £35,000–£40,000 with a total package up to £45,000 including overtime and benefits, plus official manufacturer training pathways and modern diagnostic tooling.

You will perform routine servicing, diagnostics, and repairs with a focus on first-time fixes in a structured, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 (or City & Guilds / time-served equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• F-Gas certification is preferred but not required.
• Full UK driving licence is essential; MOT Tester licence is preferred but not required.
• Must possess your own hand tools; strong diagnostic skills; high attention to detail; practical problem-solving attitude.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections, vehicle servicing, brake overhauls, clutch replacements, timing belts, and general mechanical repairs across various makes and models.
• Perform advanced vehicle diagnostics and systematic troubleshooting to locate and resolve faults.
• Maintain high standards of efficiency and accuracy to deliver first-time fix results and maintain workshop productivity.
• Complete digital health checks and report repair requirements clearly to the service team.
• Collaborate closely with workshop colleagues to maintain a smooth repair flow and uphold health and safety guidelines.

Your Role

As a vital Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic in our Bridgend team, you will:

What You Need

• Qualifications & Experience: NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 (or City & Guilds / time-served equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair with a proven track record in a professional workshop environment. F-Gas certification is preferred (or an interest in obtaining it).
• Licensing: Full UK driving licence is essential. An active MOT Tester licence (Class 4/7) is preferred but not required.
• Equipment & Mindset: Must possess your own hand tools for daily repair tasks. Strong diagnostic skills, high attention to detail, and a practical problem-solving attitude.
