Evans Halshaw Ford Darlington is offering a Vehicle Technician Apprentice role with September 2026 start. The apprenticeship combines hands-on dealership experience with structured training, aiming to achieve an IMI Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Servicing and Maintenance.

Attendance at the Daventry Training Academy is required 12 times for four days each during the three-year programme. You do not need previous automotive experience to apply.

Qualifications

• No prior automotive experience required; the apprenticeship is designed to train you.
• A genuine interest in vehicles and the industry is desirable.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions is essential.
• Strong attention to detail helps in servicing and diagnosing vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Learn to service vehicles by following clear instructions.
• Diagnose, repair and replace vehicle parts and components.
• Carry out vehicle checks and inspections.
• Produce time estimates for repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain repair and service records in the in-house system and for customers.

As a Vehicle Technician Apprentice, you'll combine hands-on experience in our dealerships with structured training and the support of an experienced mentor. You'll work towards achieving an IMI Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Servicing and Maintenance, setting you up to become a fully qualified Vehicle Technician.

You don't need previous experience in the automotive industry to apply. We don't expect you to know everything already, that's what the apprenticeship is for.

If you're curious, motivated and willing to learn, we'll give you the training, support and mentoring you need to succeed and build a long-term career as a Vehicle Technician.

Please note that if successful you will be required to attend the Training Academy in Daventry 12 times, for 4 days at a time, for duration of the 3 year programme.

What will you be doing every day as an Apprentice Vehicle Technician?

• Learning to service vehicles, checking and maintaining them following clear instructions
• Learning to diagnose, repair and replace vehicle parts and components
• Carry out vehicle checks and inspections
• Produce time estimates for repairs and maintenance to vehicles
• Maintain repair and service records on the in-house computer system and for customers.
