Job summary

Evans Halshaw Vauxhall in Middlesbrough, part of Lithia UK, offers a Vehicle Technician Apprentice role starting September 2026. The programme combines dealership hands-on work with structured training and mentorship, progressing toward an IMI Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Servicing and Maintenance.

No prior automotive experience is required; the apprenticeship is designed to train and develop you into a qualified Vehicle Technician over three years, including attendance at the Coventry

Qualifications

• A keen eye for detail.
• Grade C or Grade 4 in English, Maths and Science.

Responsibilities

• Learn to service vehicles, checking and maintaining them following clear instructions.
• Learn to diagnose, repair and replace vehicle parts and components.
• Carry out vehicle checks and inspections.
• Produce time estimates for repairs and maintenance to vehicles.
• Maintain repair and service records on the in-house computer system and for customers.

As a Vehicle Technician Apprentice, you’ll combine hands‑on experience in our dealerships with structured training and the support of an experienced mentor. You’ll work towards achieving an IMI Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Servicing and Maintenance, setting you up to become a fully qualified Vehicle Technician.

You don’t need previous experience in the automotive industry to apply. We don’t expect you to know everything already, that’s what the apprenticeship is for.

If you’re curious, motivated and willing to learn, we’ll give you the training, support and mentoring you need to succeed and build a long‑term career as a Vehicle Technician.

Please note that if successful you will be required to attend the Training Academy in Coventry 13 times, for 5 days at a time ,for the duration of the 3 year programme.

What will you be doing every day as an Apprentice Vehicle Technician?
