Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a Mechanical Technician/Vehicle Technician for a shift-based role at its Kettering site. You will respond to breakdowns on production machinery, diagnose faults, and perform repairs to quickly restore operations.

Training will progress you toward a Maintenance Engineer level within a state-of-the-art plant. The role requires hands-on mechanical experience, strong fault-finding skills, and a good understanding of health and safety in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Respond to mechanical breakdowns across the site.

• Perform basic adjustments and modifications.

Vehicle Technician/ Car Mechanic - Kettering

This is actually an EXCELLENT opportunity for a Vehicle technician that is open to moving to a new sector of engineering/ repair work. This will be changing cars for automated machinery in a production environment, and will be trained up to Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.

Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire
Salary: £54000-£57000+ Bonus + Good Pension
Shift: 8 hour shift rotation, early mornings, late afternoons and a night - lots of time off
Employment: Permanent

Mechanical Fitter/ Vehicle Technician/ Car Mechanic/ Plant Fitter/ Machine Builders/ could suit this role as the company will train you up to Maintenance Technician level.

MUST have engineering qualifications.

The Role

We are working with an award-winning manufacturer that is looking for a Mechanical trained person to join its engineering team on a shift-based pattern.

This is a hands‑on, reactive maintenance role, where the main responsibility will be responding to breakdowns and getting production machinery back up and running as quickly and safely as possible.

The role would suit a Mechanic, who enjoys fault finding, diagnosing problems and carrying out repairs in a busy manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond quickly to mechanical breakdowns across the manufacturing site.
• Diagnose faults and identify the root cause of machinery failures.
• Carry out reactive maintenance and repairs to minimise production downtime.
• Repair and replace mechanical components as required.
• Fault find on motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and other production equipment.
• Carry out basic adjustments and modifications to machinery where required.
• Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and engineering work.
• Follow all site health and safety procedures and engineering standards.

Skills & Experience

• Previous Mechanical hands on experience and qualifications
• Good mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Ability to diagnose faults quickly and effectively.
• Able to work effectively under pressure.
• Good understanding of health and safety within a manufacturing environment.
