Job summary

Halfords is seeking a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic for our Autocentre in the UK. You will service and repair vehicles, carry out diagnostics, and handle tasks including clutches and timing belt replacements.

This role involves a five-day week (closed Sundays) with opportunities to progress and benefit from an uncapped bonus scheme and a base salary of £36,620. On-target earnings can reach £42,420 with an average annual bonus of £5,800, plus extensive staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served experience.
• Full UK driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experience as Technician/Mechanic with diagnostic skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repairs and replacements.
• Carry out diagnostics on vehicle systems (brakes, steering, suspension).
• Handle complex repairs (clutches, timing belts, electrical work).

As a Vehicle Technician/ Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills and experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
