Job summary

Halfords is recruiting a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic in the Southampton area. The role involves servicing and repair work with capability to handle clutches, timing belts and diagnostics in areas such as electrics, brakes, steering and suspension.

The company notes an on-target earnings up to £40,240 including a base salary and an uncapped monthly bonus scheme averaging £6,600 per year. Benefits include generous leave, discounts, health plans and pension schemes.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served experience.
• Must have a full driver’s licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work and complex repairs.

Responsibilities

• Serve and repair vehicles including complex tasks (clutches, timing belts).
• Carry out diagnostics across electrics, brakes, steering and suspension systems.
• Perform servicing and replacement work as required.

Skills & Experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full driver’s licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
