Job summary

Royal Mail in Peterborough is seeking a Level 3 Vehicle Technician on a permanent contract to maintain a fleet of vehicles, trailers and equipment. You'll work as part of a modern, well-equipped workshop environment.

The role is full-time, 39.5 hours weekly with rotating shifts (06:00-14:24 and 13:36-22:00) and 1 in 3 Saturdays. Base salary £40,906 with a £90.21 weekly shift allowance and £53.66 per Saturday shift, with potential to earn up to £65k including overtime.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanic with Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent.
• Experience on a wide range of vehicles (LCV/HGV).
• Full UK manual driving licence; HGV licence preferred.
• Pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.
• Flexible to service demands and shift rota.

We're recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at Peterborough Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £65k including overtime.

Working Hours: Full time

39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00-14:24, week 2: 13:36-22:00). You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (06:00-14:24). In return, you will receive a weekday day off and £53.66 shift supplement.

Responsibilities

• You'll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You'll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You'll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanic: you're fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You've got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you're able to work on a flexible shift rota. You're always willing to support your team where necessary.
