Job summary

Halfords is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician/Mechanic at Stoke on Trent to service and repair vehicles, including complex tasks like clutch and timing belt replacements, and diagnostics in electrics, brakes, steering and suspension. This full-time role offers a clear path for career progression within Halfords Autocentres.

Ideal candidates will hold Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time-served experience, with a valid licence (≤9 points).

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Must have a full driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experienced technician able to diagnose and repair brakes, steering/suspension and engine problems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repairs and replacements including clutches and timing belts.
• Perform diagnostics across vehicle electrics, brakes, steering and suspension.
• Deliver high-quality workmanship with safety and compliance.

As a Vehicle Technician/ Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills and experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
