Job summary

Red Bull Technology in Milton Keynes invites undergraduates to join the Vehicle Suspension Design team for a one-year placement starting summer 2026. You will design suspension components, draft tooling, develop CAD proficiency, and prepare technical documentation while collaborating with designers and engineers across the organisation.

Occasional travel may be required. Eligibility includes returning to higher education for at least one year after the placement; a good grounding in mechanical

Qualifications

• Understanding of vehicle suspension, driver controls and braking systems.
• Understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and calculations.
• Good understanding of a 3D CAD system and willingness to learn a new package.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Designing and drafting suspension and driver controls components and associated tooling or pit gear.
• Developing CAD design, CAD drafting, engineering calculations, fault diagnosis and fixing, basic stress analysis and vehicle dynamics.
• Preparing technical documentation for the circuit.
• Collaborating with Designers, Aerodynamicists, Vehicle Dynamicists, Race Engineering, Mechanics and manufacturing teams.
• Following design manual best practices for all activities.
• Occasional travel on company business.

Job description

Red Bull Technology have exciting opportunities for undergraduate students to spend a year as part of our F1 Vehicle Suspension Design team. The placements will run from summer of 2026 for one year and offer the opportunity to demonstrate your enthusiasm and apply your knowledge in an open and dynamic environment.

Based on our Milton Keynes campus, this Vehicle Suspension Design placement opportunity will allow the successful candidate to develop skills in problem solving, creativity, teamwork, planning, innovation and communication whilst performing the following tasks:

• Designing and draughting of suspension and driver controls components and any associated tooling or pit gear as directed.
• Developing proficiency in specialist areas of CAD design, CAD draughting, engineering calculations, fault diagnosis and fixing, elementary stress analysis, elementary vehicle dynamics.
• The preparation of technical documentation for the circuit.
• Developing problem solving and communication skills through working closely with Designers, Aerodynamicists, Vehicle Dynamicists, Race Engineering, Mechanics, Manufacturing and technical specialists from throughout the organisation.
• Following best practice as defined by the design manual for all activities.
• Occasional travel on company business as requested.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

• An understanding of vehicle suspension, driver controls and braking systems.
• An understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and calculation.
• A good understanding of a 3D CAD system and willingness to learn a new package.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.Initiative and willingness to learn and contribute the Red Bull Formula 1 programme.

To be eligible for this placement applicants must be returning to higher education to study for at least 1 year after their placement year. Confirmation of this should be in place at time of application. While we would like to open this opportunity up to all applicants these positions are intended to be a work placement for students currently undertaking higher education and is therefore the eligibility requirement.
