Job summary

Red Bull Technology offers a year-long placement on the F1 Vehicle Suspension Design team based at Milton Keynes. The placements run from summer 2026 for one year, allowing you to apply your knowledge in a dynamic environment and develop practical design skills.

You will work closely with Designers, Aerodynamicists, Vehicle Dynamicists, Race Engineering, and Mechanics, gaining hands-on experience in CAD drafting, calculations, and technical documentation while building problem-solving and

• Understanding of vehicle suspension, driver controls, and braking systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and calculation.
• Familiarity with a 3D CAD system and willingness to learn a new package.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Initiative and willingness to contribute to the Red Bull Formula 1 programme.

Responsibilities

• Designing suspension and driver controls components and tooling as directed.
• Develop CAD design, calculations, fault diagnosis and basic stress analysis.
• Prepare technical documentation for the circuit.
• Collaborate with Designers, Aerodynamicists, Vehicle Dynamicists and others.
• Follow design manual practices and travel occasionally on business.

Red Bull Technology has exciting opportunities for undergraduate students to spend a year as part of our F1 Vehicle Suspension Design team. The placements will run from the summer of 2026 for one year, offering the opportunity to demonstrate your enthusiasm and apply your knowledge in an open and dynamic environment.

Location

Based on our Milton Keynes campus, this Vehicle Suspension Design placement opportunity will allow the successful candidate to develop skills in problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, planning, innovation, and communication whilst performing the following tasks:

Skills

• Designing and draughting of suspension and driver controls components and any associated tooling or pit gear as directed.
• Developing proficiency in specialist areas of CAD design, CAD draughting, engineering calculations, fault diagnosis and fixing, elementary stress analysis, and elementary vehicle dynamics.
• The preparation of technical documentation for the circuit.
• Developing problem-solving and communication skills through working closely with Designers, Aerodynamicists, Vehicle Dynamicists, Race Engineering, Mechanics, Manufacturing, and technical specialists from throughout the organization.
• Following best practice as defined by the design manual for all activities.
• Occasional travel on company business as requested.

Required Qualifications

Eligibility

To be eligible for this placement, applicants must be returning to higher education to study for at least 1 year after their placement year. Confirmation of this should be in place at the time of application. These positions are intended to be a work placement for students currently undertaking higher education and is therefore the eligibility requirement.

Placement Duration
