Job summary

Red Bull Technology is offering Industrial Student Placement positions within the Vehicle Performance Group. Two placements are available in the Suspension and Simulation Performance teams for students in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Automotive Engineering, or STEM-based courses with an interest in vehicle performance and data analysis.

The placements run for one year starting Summer 2027. Applicants should have at least one year of study remaining and will gain exposure to predictive analytics,

Qualifications

• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
• In-depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles.
• Experience with programming/data-science (Python would be particularly advantageous).
• Good written and face-to-face communication.

Responsibilities

• Providing predictive performance analysis prior to each event, and for longer-term goals like future car concepts.
• Validating models against track data and developing them to improve accuracy.
• Supporting real-time and ad-hoc data analysis of race and test events, including through Race weekends in the Red Bull operations room.
• Developing automated routines and processes for data analysis and metrics generation to improve our efficiency.
• Utilising design-of-experiments methods and existing toolsets to explore the vehicle design space.
• Improving the visualisation of data so that the wider company can quickly and accurately understand our conclusions.

Job description

Red Bull Technology are inviting candidates to apply for Industrial Student Placement positions within Vehicle Performance Group. There are two positions available in the Suspension and Simulation Performance teams. The positions are ideal for students enrolled in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Automotive Engineering courses but we encourage applications from anyone enrolled on a STEM-based course, who can show a strong interest in vehicle performance and data analysis.

Candidate Requirements

Candidates will be required to demonstrate:

• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
• In-depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles.
• Experience with programming/data-science (Python would be particularly advantageous).
• Good written and face-to-face communication.

The successful candidates will develop skills in problem solving, creativity, teamwork, planning, innovation, and communication. Regardless of specialisation, both positions will require working closely with the wider Vehicle Dynamics group and business. Specific tasks likely to be undertaken include:

• Providing predictive performance analysis prior to each event, and for longer-term goals like future car concepts.
• Validating models against track data and developing them to improve accuracy.

The Vehicle Performance Group's work is tightly coupled to the Race calendar so during the racing season there will be a strong bias towards preparing for the upcoming events and analysing recent performance. During the off-season, projects will switch towards longer-term work, and successful applicants should expect larger, more complicated projects which lay the foundation for future successes in years to come.

Eligibility and Contractual Details

Please note that to be eligible for these placements candidates must be able to demonstrate they will have at least 1 year of study remaining at the end of their placement year.
