Duties of a Vehicle Security Installer
- Install and configure various vehicle security systems, including alarms, immobilisers, trackers, and related systems
- Conduct electrical wiring, connections, and necessary modifications for security system installations
- Diagnose and rectify faults within vehicle electrical and security systems to ensure optimal operation
- Safely remove and refit vehicle interior trim and panels during installation and maintenance work
- Ensure wiring and security components are installed neatly, securely, and discreetly
- Test and verify the functionality of security systems after installation
- Use diagnostic tools and technical documentation effectively to support fault diagnosis
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and faults diagnosed
- Follow manufacturer guidelines and adhere to company standards during installation procedures
- Stay informed of evolving vehicle security technologies and installation methods
- Keep tools and equipment maintained to the highest standards
- Deliver high-quality work to minimise future repairs and enhance customer satisfaction
Requirements of a Vehicle Security Installer
- Proven experience in vehicle security installation, automotive electrics, or relevant technical roles
- Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems and circuitry
- Hands-on experience installing aftermarket security devices such as alarms, immobilisers, and trackers
- Ability to diagnose electrical and security faults with accuracy
- Practical skills with attention to detail for neat, professional installations
- Familiarity with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and specialised installation tools
- Proficiency in removing and refitting vehicle interior trim without damage
- Knowledge of safe working practices when dealing with vehicle electrical systems
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a busy team environment
- Organised with good time management skills to prioritise tasks
- Full UK driving licence is essential
- Qualifications in automotive electrical work or vehicle security are desirable
