Job summary

Wessex Garages in Newport is seeking a skilled Vehicle Prep Technician (PDI) to join our automotive team. You will perform pre-delivery inspections on new and used vehicles, ensuring they meet manufacturer guidelines and our high standards before customer handover.

With a solid mechanical background and a Level 2/3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance, you will work efficiently to deadlines, use the right tools, and deliver outstanding customer service with a focus on first-time fixes.

Qualifications

• Solid mechanical background with Level 2/3 in light vehicle maintenance.
• Full UK manual driving licence with up to 6 points.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

About the role

What you’ll do

• Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) on new and used vehicles, ensuring everything meets the highest standards and manufacturer guidelines.
• Work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining quality.
• Deliver outstanding customer service every step of the way.
• Focus on precision and aim for ‘first-time’ fixes to delight our customers.

What we’re looking for

• A solid understanding of vehicle mechanics, ideally backed by a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance.
• A full manual driving license (with no more than 6 points).
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a supportive team.
• Confidence in using the tools of the trade.
• A customer-focused mindset with a commitment to high-quality service.

Key information:

• Working pattern: Mon - Fr 8:30am - 5:00pm, Saturdays on a rota
