Job summary

Lancashire County Council is hiring a Vehicle and Plant Technician for the Burnley workshop. You’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet, including LGVs, PSVs, light vehicles, and plant machinery, with a focus on keeping frontline services running smoothly.

The role includes servicing auxiliary equipment, mentoring apprentices, and working a 37-hour week with overtime and a tool allowance. Standby rota and paid call-outs are part of the package.

Qualifications

• Level 3 automotive qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Category B driving license is required.
• Experience in one or more of the following: Plant/Mobile Technician, Light Vehicle Technician, PSV/HGV Technician or Auto Electrician.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of vehicles and plant machinery.
• Fit and service auxiliary equipment such as tail lifts, trackers, cameras, heaters and generators.
• Deliver high-quality work to keep frontline services running and safe.
