Job description

We have a rare opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join the Engineering Team as a fully skilled Vehicle Maintenance Technician based at our Vehicle Maintenance Unit in Slough.

As a Vehicle Technician, you will maintain FedEx Assets' safety and reliability by performing service and maintenance of the company fleet of vehicles and trailers in line with planned maintenance schedules. Ensuring that the fleet is safe, legal, and fit for duties.

Hours: 40 per week.
Shifts: Rotating shifts Monday to Friday 06:00 to 14:30 and 14:00 to 22:30.
Salary: £17.25 per hour. Premium paid for Twilight (19:00 and 22:00) and Night shifts (22:00 to 06:00). Premium not paid if sick.

Key responsibilities include:

• Completion of signed service and inspection records
• Completion of defect reports and associated paperwork to comply with legal requirements
• Preparing vehicles and trailers for annual MOT testing to ensure first-time pass
• Performing ad-hoc vehicle repairs, investigating and rectifying vehicle defects
• Ensuring the correct and effective safe use of all tools, plant, and ancillary equipment
• Maintaining good housekeeping standards and performing other duties as deemed reasonable by management

Qualifications and experience:

• Fully skilled with applicable licenses/vocational training (e.g., LGV C&E license)
• City & Guilds parts 1 & 2 or equivalent in commercial vehicle repairs
• Knowledge of automotive and testing/troubleshooting equipment
• Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy vehicle components
• Experience with welding and basic electrical troubleshooting
• Valid driving license
• Previous experience in a similar role
